The Syndicat Linaro takes its name from the famous German riding pony stallion Linaro SL, imported to France in 1999 by five breeders who grouped together to finance the purchase of this former international performer. Why ‘Syndicat’? For linguistic reasons, as ‘syndication’ signifies the investment of several people in the same object… here the handsome liver chestnut. The Syndicat Linaro went on to buy other stallions (Teake It Easy SL, Glenn SL, Naughty van Graaf Janshof, Rasmus SL, Aron N SL…), rented certain others for a year or so (Durello, Kantje’s Ronaldo SL…), started to distribute the frozen semen of great sporting stars that are still competing (Dexter Leam Pondi, Welcome Sympatico SL…) and is still going strong.

 Syndicat Linaro's 2010 BIP

Numerous offspring of the SL stallions – or the SL stallions themselves – took part in the 10th edition of the French CSIOP Bonneau International Poney, which is held in April every year at Fontainebleau (77). Seen amongst the French entries, and also ridden by foreign riders, they took part in CSIP, CSIOP and Young Pony classes.

Starting with the young ponies; more than ever were found in the line-ups for these greatly appreciated classes (more than fifty this year), and six of them were progeny of the Syndicat Linaro stallions (including Quettino de Florys SL, present in the catalogue). Amongst them, clear rounds were had by Quick Star d’Avril(Pfs, Machno Carwyn), who stood out amongst the 6-year-olds on the Saturday, ahead of Quettino de Florys SL (Pfs, Kantje’s Ronaldo SL). From the 7-year-olds the same day, the second place of Pyrite du Loir (Pfs, Kantje’s Ronaldo SL), already a winner in Grand Prix As Excellence this year, was note-worthy. The following day in the final, backed by Syndicat Linaro and placed for the third consecutive year, Quick Star d’Avril took the second place in the 6-year-olds, Politica de Florys (Pfs, Welcome Sympatico SL), second place in the 7-year-olds and Pyrite du Loir finished 4th in the same class.

In the CSIP on the Friday, Meeping Cha de Florys SL (Peeping Tom A) jumped clear in the 115 cm, whilst in the 125 cm the fourth place went to a German son of Kantje’s Ronaldo SL, Eternity, ahead of Magic Leam Pondi, a son of Dexter Leam Pondi jumping for France. Melvin Candy (Pfs, Linaro SL), Jimmerdor de Florys SL (Pfs, Nimmerdor) and Anydale Ron SL (Nf, Kantje’s Ronaldo SL), all finished on four faults in the same class. The following day the European Patty(Kantje’s Ronaldo SL) went clear in the small class (115 cm) for Germany, as did his compatriots, Giovanni (Top Nonstop SL) and EternityJimmerdor de Florys SL also jumped clear, but for France this time, with his young rider. In the Fontainebleau town Grand Prix  (130/135cm) on the final Sunday, the second best French performer was Jimmerdor de Florys (6 faults), just ahead of Poetic Licia (Poet, Poetic Justice SL).

In the small CSIOP class on the Friday (115/120cm), Karwin (Kantje’s Ronaldo SL) jumped clear for Germany and Onaro (Pfs, Linaro SL) finished with 4 faults for France. In the Nations Cup (130/135cm) the following day the progeny of two SL stallions were in the starting blocks: Karwin for the German team (8+0) and Niki de Montmain (Pfs, Linaro SL) for Spain (4 faults and the best performance of the team). With 4 faults in the 120 cm on Sunday, Onaro confirmed his consistency and above all his potential for classes at this level!

Idéfix du Villon SL (Co, Quignon du Parc) was missed, his Swedish rider preferring to take part in the CSIP at Moorsele the week before. One of Durello’s sons took part in the CSIP classes for Belgium, Dancing Happiness, as did the super Celina (Drp, Brooklands Moonwalker), representing Germany in the same classes.

Despite their conspicuous presence, the SL stallions and their progeny represented only a small portion of the 200 international entries. In the young pony competitions, as in the past three years, the majority of the classes were won by Irish ponies, notably Sunday’s Grand Prix when the 6-year-old class was taken by Kate Macdonagh and Some Boy, as well as the 7-year-old class, won by Matt Garrigan and Dr Spot, already standing out last year as a 6-year-old. In fact, virtually all the classes wound up in Irish hands this year! A victory for Tim Macdonagh and Diego Flow in the Derby, the Irish team (Tom Foley/Dibidoe, Shane Kenny/More Clover, Jeremy Sweetnam/Allies Fir Baoi et Paraic Kenny/Cappagh Romeo) in the Nations Cup, and once again for Tom Foley and Dibidoe in the CSIOP Veolia Propreté Grand Prix. Giulia Galletti nevertheless saved Italy’s honour by winning the Fontainebleau town CSIP Grand Prix, riding Ravensdale Apraise Me (Ish, Appraisal), and her team-mate Camilla Franci, winner of the Manerbio CSIP Grand Prix a week earlier, took first place in the small CSIP on the French pony Iver’Stone (Aydin des Malais) on the Sunday. The young Romy Morssinkhof on Golden Future (FS Golden Moonlight) was a spoilsport in the Bareme C CSIOP class on Saturday, making his presence felt on behalf of Belgium.

On the French side there were victories for Robin Muhr and Quanail de la Boal (Pfs, Thunder du Blin HN) in Friday’s 6-year-old class and Sidonie Vivet and Myocène du Bléquin (Cs, Dribleur) in the 120cm CSIP the same day. On Saturday, the newly formed couple Victor Bros/Milford de Grangues (Pfs, Shining Starr Aristo) took the small CSIP class while Pauline Pallandre and Quick Star d’Avril nabbed the 6-year-old class. Finally, on Sunday Florian Lemaitre took the 120cm CSIOP class with Happy du Halage (Cs, Arra d’Auzay). See you next year!

   SOLOGN’PONY : Edition 2009 (Lamotte-Beuvron, from 20 to 23 August)

The traditional annual meeting which brings together breeders and sports pony enthusiasts was rich with emotion… and information too, of course. Whilst the Sologn’Pony celebrated its 10th birthday, the ANPFS commemorated 40 years in existence. It must be acknowledged that the French riding pony (PFS) breed has been in continual development since its beginnings - professionals and amateurs can only be delighted, even if there is still much work to be done and there are still not enough ponies that are really interesting over fences. The improvement is principally due to bloodlines introduced from abroad, thanks in particular to the recognition of exceptional parents distributed by the Syndicat Linaro.

Syndicat Linaro offspring dominated the breeding competitions.

From a total of 168 ponies entered in the breeding competitions (PFS breed championships and the 3-year-old all-breed ridden championships), 43 ponies are direct descendants from the Syndicat stallions, amongst which five were champions in their category – 50% of breeding competitions were won by the progeny of SL stallions for only 25% of entries.

Shalimar du Rucher

For example, in the class for 3-year-old ponies, all-breeds, jointly organised by the National Stud and the UFPS (Union Française des Poneys de Sport – French Union for Sport Ponies), the 1st place fell to the pretty Sugar Doll du Logis (Hondsrug Raspoetin SL) and the 2nd place, to Symphonie de Holland (Welcome Sympatico SL) in size ‘C’.

The stunning dun Shalimar du Rucher (Linaro SL) snatched the D pony Championships.

Scotty du Ham

The class for 3-year-old PFS stallions was won by Salam du Roc (Linaro SL), who also won Supreme breed Champion. Unfortunately, his jumping performance was not great… which is always a shame for a potential ambassador of the future – and the national show jumping trainer Pascal Henry, who had come to get a feel for French breeding, seemed unconvinced. Style de Blonde (Machno Carwyn) took 3rd place, Sexy Boy du Routhou (Najisco d’Haryns by Linaro SL), 5th place and the only descendant of the fabulous Minotauros SL, from his second French generation Scotty du Ham, took 8th place with the best marks for jumping for, by far, the best show of jumping of the competition.  Amongst the first ten 3-year-old stallions, 3 were direct descendants from the SL stallions.

Tolkien der Lenn

The five first places in the 2-year-old PFS colt class (out of 28 participants), came home to worthy descendants of the Syndicat stallions: 1st - Tatoo du Petit Torcy (Linaro SL); 2ndTolkien Der Lenn (the only representative of Zodiak SL); 3rd - Taxi Driver du Lin (Teake It Easy SL); 4th Twister des Collières (Linaro SL); 5th  -Toutatis Lacour (Linaro SL).

A granddaughter of Linaro, Shanisco du Serein (Najisco d’Haryns) won the 3-year-old PFS mare championships.  As for Soinie de Montiège (Linaro SL), she won 3rd place.

In the 2-year-old PFS female class, 2nd place fell to Tess de la Lie, a daughter of Linaro SL.

Vagabonde de Taille

Mac Geyver SL was equally honoured, represented by a lovely filly, Vagabonde de Taille, a very chic filly foal champion who failed to steal the limelight from the broodmare of the President of the ANPFS by bringing home the Supreme female Championship: there were heated discussions between the members of the jury afterwards, and this gorgeous bay filly was the favourite of the President of the SHF, Marc Damians, whose thinking we understand very well…

Photo coll. SL

Of the New Forests, the Sologn’Pony gave the opportunity to see a son of the brilliant Kantje’s Ronaldo SL, Ornaldo de Civry be approved as a stallion.

It was also a straight success for the Syndicat stallions in the Cycle Classique finals.
In the 4-year-old C & D, 5-year old C & D and 6-year old C & D classes, 50 ponies getting an endorsement in the finals were descendants of the Syndicat stallions and two were from the Espoir catalogue (Quettino de Florys SL and Pidji du Tilia SL)  - making around 30% of the title-winning ponies (12 Elite, 27 Excellent and 11 Very Good).

In the 4-year-old C class (22 entrants), Roadster de Noé (Aron N SL) won the final and was equally classed as ‘Elite’, Romy des Chabannes (Linaro SL) was classed as ‘Excellent’ in 3rd place and Rafale des Iris (Aron N SL) was classed ‘Very Good’ in 9th place.

In the 4-year-old D class (105 entrants), Relcome de Florys (Welcome Sympatico SL), 2nd; Rosco de Bellefond (Linaro SL), 4th; Rolly de Prère (Linaro SL), 6th; Roméo Berenger (Aron N SL), 9th; Rêve d’Amour Porteron (Glenn SL), 13th; and Razouzaure (Linaro SL), 14th were classed as ‘Elite’. Rock Star de la Fosse (a stallion by Movie Star Tilia) was classed as ‘Excellent’.

In the 5-year-old C class (23 entrants) Quito de Buterne (Glenn SL), 4th and Qopper Der Lenn (Kantje’s Ronaldo SL), 9th, gained the endorsement ‘Excellent’.

Quettino de Florys SL

Amongst the 5-year-old D ponies (100 entrants), Quitanne de la Tour (Machno Carwyn), Quinail Guillaumière (Linaro SL) et Qlinaro Finland (Linaro SL)  were given the endorsement ‘Elite’. Other ‘Excellents’ were Quasimir de Gineau (Linaro SL), the spectacular stallion from the Espoir catalogue Quettino de Florys (Kantje’s Ronaldo SL), Qualino d’Oréal (Linaro SL), Quick Lady Brianelle (Linaro SL), Quickly de la Becarie (Linaro SL), Quidame de Rond Pré (Welcome Sympatico SL), Quilebo d’Angrie (Linaro SL) and Quadrophino du Vassal (Linaro SL), that is to say 8 ponies.

In the 6-year-old C class (12 entrants) two descendants of the grey stallion Glenn SL (Poésie du Palet and Phenix du Palet), were ‘Excellent’, as was the small and very good stallion from the Espoir catalogue Pidji du Tilia SL, as well as Pasiphae du Rubis (Naughty van Graaf Janshof).

Pidji du Tilia SL

As for the 6-year-old D class (50 entrants) Politica de Florys (Welcome Sympatico SL) was 3rd, and Pirouette d’Argent (Linaro SL), 4th gaining the endorsement ‘Elite’.  Perlin du Rempart (Linaro SL) was ‘Excellent’, as well as Passport Leydez (Naughty van Graaf Janshof), Pyrite du Loir (Kantje’s Ronaldo SL) and Pin Up des Roses (Linaro SL) qualified as ‘Very Good’.

In the D pony Critérium, Qupid’O Vezauzière (Linaro SL) distinguished himself with a 2nd place and Prince de Montmain (Glenn SL) took 4th place.

Pyrite du Loir

Finally, there were no less than 3 descendants of Glenn SL in the 7-year-old D class from the 9 entrants (Omar Hautes FalaisesOuenza et Ozon Hautes Falaises).

Numerous progeny of the Syndicat stallions were honoured on Sologne ground. Their competitiveness once again gave proof to the remarkable qualities of the SL stallions and definitively strengthened, if it is still needed, their leadership.

  2009 European Championships (29 July - 3 August)

The Syndicat Linaro stallions shone at Moorsele (Belgium).

This year, no less than three stallions from the Elite catalogue took part in the show jumping at the European Championships: the excellent Idéfix du Villon SL, the extraordinary son of Kantje’s Ronaldo SL Anydale Ron SL (aged 18-years-old) and the incredible Jimmerdor de Florys SL (who won the Warm Up, but unfortunately got injured in the paddock before the official classes and was therefore deprived of a place of honour).  Gieltje (a 9-year-old gelding, 17th in the individual finals) and Karwin 2 represented their famous sire Kantje’s Ronaldo SL with dignity. Gieltje is a new arrival, and the 14th descendant of Ronaldo to have participated at the European Championships! So, yet again, three offspring of Ronaldo show jumping at the European Championships.

Idéfix du Villon SL

In eventing, Nitzpogne (21st for France) and the lovely black stallion Giorgio N did their respective father and grandfather Linaro SL proud. Nono (by Justice) one of the best stallion sons of Ronaldo), for his part, participated at the European Championships for Belgium.

In dressage, Welcome Sympatico SL also figured well as his son, the stallion, Scampolo, defended the Italian team flag; and the excellent Cinderella (by Constantin, son of the sadly departed Whatton Copper Beech and therefore brother of Hondsrug Raspoetin SL), winner of the German Championships last year as a 5-year-old, was crowned team European Champion in dressage.

The SL stallions were also well represented in the CSIP classes: Kantje’s Ronaldo SL could count three offspring (Fred, Berkzicht Ramon et Oxford de Bausse) as well as a grandson (Orchid’s Balou, an extraordinary 6-year-old by Justice, whose grand dam is also the dam of Karwin); two offspring by Dexter Leam Pondi (Ix de l’Aulne and Proud Domino); a daughter of de Poetic Justice SL (Licia); a stallion son by Mac Geyver SL (Mister N); a grandson of Aron N SL (Avalon N by Aragon N); a son of Linaro SL (Onaro); a gelding son of Zodiak SL (Zorba du Vi, 6th in the CSIP Grand Prix, missed the jump off by two time faults) as well as a descendant of the much-missed Naughty Van Graaf Janshof (Narathy).

Once again the Syndicat Linaro stallions prove their exceptional sporting and genetic qualities!

Other ponies were able to show their talent during the European Championships, in particular in dressage. There was a real show of stallions, with 19 out of 48 entries. The excellent Swedish stallion Verdi for example, who competed against his sire Vermont (who was castrated over two years ago).

Elsewhere, five offspring of the multi-champion of Europe Dornick B took part in the competition; a gelding son of the team European champion at Avenches Going East (Gigolo, who qualified for the RLM), 2 sons of the multi-champions of Europe Derano Gold and Dressman; 2 offspring of the crack FS Don’t Worry (one of whom was the double European Champion holder Golden Girl); as well as the very handsome stallion Brooklands Moonwalker (Magnum x Lombard), one of the leading sires of show jumping winners in Germany, who took part in the European Championships for Denmark at the age of 17 (winning team bronze medal in dressage), during which his daughter Celina show jumped for Germany (9th in the individual finals at her first attempt as a 12-year-old)!

Equally of note was the pretty Polish pony Cyclon Texas, a new stallion individual finalist show jumping at the European Championships (for Norway):  he gained himself a place amongst the Top 10 international performance stallions.

Similarly, Boston Burglar (in eventing) and Clogherboy Mirah (in show jumping) are two offspring of the Irish Welsh Connemara stallion Westside Mirah who participated at the European Championships.

 Espoirs' performance!

You can count on two of the young stallions in the Espoir section of the Syndicat Linaro catalogue being present at Sologn’Pony at Lamotte-Beuvron, from 20 to 23 August.

Pidji
Pidji du Tilia SL and Julie Fauvet

Pidji du Tilia SL (by Fidji du Fleury, Sf out of Hourloupe du Tilia, Wb), a small, lively stallion with spectacular paces, is qualified for the finals of the 6-year-old Cycle Classiques with 9 clears from 9 rounds, making a total of 204.8 points, the level for qualifying being set at 95 points.
Pidji was equally Supreme Part-Bred Champion at the regional Welsh at Mourmelon where he also won the ridden class and was Reserve Champion of the show.

Quettino
Quettino de Florys SL and Pauline Henry

The second Espoir stallion to qualify is none other than the son of the famous Kantje’s Ronaldo SL and is out of Bettina. Completely at ease and showing impressive ability, Quettino de Florys SL qualified easily for the finals with 7 clears out of 7 in the Cycle Classique 5-year-old D classes, gaining 184 points, well above the level needed to qualify which was set at 95 points. The young and promising bay stallion is well on the way to confirming he has the quality necessary for the top level in a few years time.
